Hello Parents, St. Francis Xavier High School believes that while strong Christian values and an excellent academic program are a must, something equally important is a sense of where we fit in our community and in our world. What better way to realize this than with community service? Community service shows a young person where they fit in society and gives him/her a better understanding of what is important in life. In the parable of The Judgment of the Nations (Matthew 25:31-46) Jesus told his disciples: When the Son of Man comes in his glory...he will separate the sheep from the goats. ...Then the righteous will answer Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you? And the king will say to them in reply, Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me. There are many opportunities here in Sumter where we can do Gods will. Monthly, we have a shortened academic day and send our students out to various community organizations as a class. In addition, we host fundraisers and various drives throughout the school year. We also encourage participation in Walks and fundraisers for other charitable organizations. Our goal is to assist your student in realizing one person can make a difference. Please encourage your student to get involved. Community service hours are submitted on My Students Progress. |
